Why We Started Your Charity Guest Speaker
After more than a decade working in the charity sector, one frustration kept coming up time and again: the huge gap between what charities could afford to pay for a guest speaker, and what agencies were quoting.
I’d often have conversations where an agency would pitch a speaker at £1,500, only for the speaker themselves to say they’d happily do it for £500 if it was for the right cause. That difference isn’t small it can be the difference between a charity/Grassroots Organisation/ Community Group saying yes to hosting an inspiring event, or walking away because it feels out of reach.
That’s where Your Charity Guest Speaker (YCGS) comes in.
A Simple Idea
YCGS was born out of a belief that speakers should be able to decide their own “charity rate” setting a fee that feels right to them depending on how much they connect with the cause. No inflated costs, no barriers, just honest conversations and partnerships where everyone wins.
How It Works
We’ve kept it as simple as possible:
- We list speakers on our website and social media.
- Charities, community groups and grassroots organisations enquire about a booking.
- The speaker says yes or no, and sets their fee.
- We handle the booking and charge a small admin fee.
- Corporate enquiries go straight to the speaker.
That’s it. Non-exclusive, transparent, and easy.
Why It Matters
Great fundraising events don’t just raise money they raise awareness, inspire communities, and create lasting connections. By removing the barriers between charities and speakers, YCGS gives more organisations the chance to benefit from hearing incredible stories, insights and experiences.
At the same time, it gives speakers the freedom to support causes they care about, on terms that feel right to them.
