Laura Sugar MBE

Laura Sugar MBE is a three time Paralympian and double Paralympic champion, winning paracanoe gold at both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
Before moving into para sport, Laura represented Wales in field hockey, captaining the under 20s and earning 16 senior international caps. She later competed for ParalympicsGB as a T44 sprinter at Rio 2016 and won four European Para athletics medals.
Laura switched to paracanoe in 2018 and has since won four consecutive world titles in the KL3 event. At Paris 2024, she successfully defended her Paralympic title and secured ParalympicsGB’s 49th and final gold medal of the Games. She was appointed an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to canoeing.
