Why I Started Your Charity Guest Speaker

YCGS STORY

After more than a decade working in charity fundraising and events, I kept seeing the same problem: the price was being discussed before the purpose of the event was understood.

The problem I kept seeing

Charities, grassroots organisations and community groups were being quoted corporate speaking rates before the speaker or entertainer had even heard what the event was for, who would be in the room or what the organisation hoped to achieve.

For some events, that difference determined whether an ambitious idea could go ahead at all.

What if the speaker understood the cause before deciding how they wanted to approach the opportunity?

The other side of the conversation

I began speaking directly with speakers and entertainers. The answer was often very different. Had they understood the cause, the audience and the impact the event hoped to make, many said they would have approached the opportunity differently.

That did not mean asking people to work for free. It meant giving them the information needed to make an informed decision about the event, the format and the fee they were prepared to accept.

That gap became YCGS

Your Charity Guest Speaker was created to bring organisers and speakers into the same, better-informed conversation.

  • We start with the event, the audience and the outcome.
  • We identify speakers and entertainers whose experience genuinely fits the room.
  • The speaker remains in control of the opportunities they consider and the fee they are prepared to accept.
  • YCGS manages the introduction, brief, practical details and booking process when there is a good fit.

Charity-first, not charity-only

Our founding purpose remains central. We want charities and community organisations to access inspiring voices through fairer, more transparent conversations.

YCGS also supports corporate and education events. Those bookings are managed with the same focus on fit, preparation and relevance, with commercial terms appropriate to the organisation and brief.

Why it matters

A speaker can help an audience see a cause differently, give people confidence, start a difficult conversation or create the energy that turns a fundraising event into something memorable.

The right name is not always the right speaker. The right fit matters more—and finding that fit is the work YCGS exists to do.
